Jenkins Campus Spotlight ——————————————————————————————— 7 May 2008 Savannah Morning News Awards of Excellence Scholarship: Michelle H. was selected as one of three Savannah Morning News Awards of Excellence Scholarship recipients. She was awarded a $1,500 scholarship last night at the annual AOE Banquet at the Westin. ————————————————————————— 21 Oct 2007 2007 3AAAAA Region Softball Champions! ————————————————————————— 19 Oct 2007 GCSA Officer Training Conference: H. V. Jenkins GCSA Chapter traveled to Atlanta for Officer Training Conference on Oct. 19-20, 2007. The chapters were able to compete in the Battle of The Chapters for the state of Georgia. For the written part of the test we were in the top ten out of 21 schools. In the oral component of the battle we competed with the top ten schools and were champion for the final battle. H. V. Jenkins and Jenkins County High then competed for the championship. In the Final battle H. V. Jenkins won second placed receiving a 100 dollar check. Our participant's members for GCSA Chapters are Me'kia D., Nikisha J., and Jasmine P.. Other members traveling who participated in the leadership workshops were Katia M. and Danielle M.. ————————————————————————— 14 Oct 2007 HV Jenkins National Merit Semifinalists: Congratulations to seniors Elise A. and Jonathan Ryan D. who were named National Merit Semifinalists. The students became eligible for the honor by earning top scores on the 2006 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Less than 1 percent of the nation's high school seniors score at this level. Nationwide, 16,000 students were named as semifinalists. From this group, 2,500 will be offered National Merit Scholarships worth $42,500. —————————————————————————
