I was born Anthony Peter Caruso Jr. in the year 1959, the 28th of September. My mother is a native Savannahian and my father was a young airman in the Air Force stationed at Hunter Air Force Base, now Hunter Army Air Field. I spent time in Spain from 1963 to 1965. I attended elementary school in various places throughout Savannah, GA, from 1966 through 1971.
In grade five my father was stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama from 1971 to 1976 where I finished middle school and spent 1 1/2 years in high school. I graduated from Mannheim American High School in 1978 with honors while my father was stationed in Mannheim Germany from December 1976 to July 1978.
During the fall of 1978 I entered the University of South Alabama until summer of 1980. I transferred to Armstrong State College in 1980, but dropped out in 1981. I met my wife in September of 1983 and returned to Armstrong and finished my degree in Chemistry in 1987. I worked for Union Camp Corporation as a laboratory Technician from July 1987 to June 1990. I then began working at GAF Building Materials Corporation in Aug 1987 as a Quality Evaluation Specialist and soon, became a Process Chemist, Quality Engineer, and TQM instructor until Aug 1996. Being unhappy in my current field, I changed my field to teaching. Therefore, I began teaching middle and high science at Providence Christian School while working on my teaching certification at Armstrong Atlantic State University, from January 1997 to Aug 2000.
In August 2000, I was offered a teaching position at H. V. Jenkins as physics teacher. During my first year of teaching at Jenkins, I completed my course work, and became certified in Broad field Science with a Gifted endorsement. I received my A. P. Physics training and certification from the College Board in the summer of 2001, and my A. P. Chemistry in the summer of 2002.
Recently, I received training and certification to teach Principles of Engineering from Project Lead the Way during the summer of 2003. This has allowed me to expand my horizons to teaching and preparing young minds for college and beyond. I will close with a most beloved quote from Albert Einstein.
"The most wonderful thing in the universe is the mysterious. It is the one true form of art and science."
